Throughout this class, I have learned a lot of great things I will implement in my Kindergarten classroom. Although I was very overwhelmed with the majority of the class, I have really enjoyed completing this final project. I did not realize there were so many web 2.0 tools that are applicable for my grade level kiddos. They will really enjoy my website, my team’s websites and the different technologies we have learned about!
The peer evaluation process was very helpful. The feedback I received via Survey Monkey on my site was great! It was recommended to me that I put the specific standards I am covering right on the site for students/parents to see, so I did that! When reviewing my team’s websites, I noticed that I did not have a rubric as they did, so even though they did not mention it, I decided I should add a rubric for the final project!
This site will be used large group mostly using the smart board in our classroom. I will use it as I am introducing the main ideas of the project. Characters, setting and main events will be used throughout our whole school year so we will be using the sight and the pieces in the sight (song) all year. The online story times could be beneficial to center time.
If I were to do something differently, I probably would have done different standards. I say this because character, setting and main events are pretty deep topics and they each take a decent amount of time to teach. I might try seasons, weather, or apples next time. I will be able to bring in all of the cross curricular topics and integrate everything into one thematic unit.
In closing, I have enjoyed this class and am looking forward to more sites that I can create!
